The Beginning
Exochromatic's story starts, like many musicians, in concert band. Picking up the flute at age nine, she quickly found a love for not only playing the instrument, but writing her own sheet music to follow. Over the years, she studied music theory on her own and with the help of family, teachers, and friends, found her sound.
Starting on her iPad in 2015 on Auxy, Exochromatic, then going by LiteshowMusic, found the found of modulation, automation, and created melodies that still get referenced in her tracks today. Her first venture into the unfamiliar, at 170 bpm, was "Zoom", which has become a tradition to remake. Four versions of this track have been created, loved, and saved, with a fifth brewing in the background.
As she developed her style, she found FL Studio Mobile, allowing her greater freedom, and being still in school, the ability to play with sound from the bus to free period. She quickly outgrew it, craving more precise control. After a year, she was gifted a license of FL Studio 20 and a Nektar LX61+, and she got right to work.
Some of the first tracks created that year are still out there. Dreamland, Distant Stars, and one of her own favorites, Absolute Zero.
It was when her goal clicked that the alias changed, from Liteshow, now being a symbol of curiosity, exploration, and the rough beginnings, to Exochromatic, a name crafted to reference the audio-visual synesthesia that she uses in her work to "paint with sound".
